The special edition of "Yi Ben Chaoshan" Dancong is a mid-to-high-end Dancong tea box set. Included are 24 varieties representing the characteristic Phoenix Dancong teas. Net weight: 192g, with each tea portion weighing 8g. The tea selections are priced between £100 and £650 per 500g.
Fenghuang (Phoenix) is a very small, close-knit community with a population of just over 30,000. Tea farmers here are also tea merchants, meaning every local person in Fenghuang is involved in the Dancong tea trade to some extent. In fact, the best teas are sold by the locals themselves, leaving what remains for outside tea merchants. It’s paradoxical for outside tea merchants to expect to buy the best teas at lower prices when visiting Fenghuang. Given the scarcity of resources, unless outside merchants are willing to pay higher prices, their costs will rise significantly. This is the dilemma they face: they either end up with mediocre tea or pay high prices—there's rarely a middle ground.
The relationship between people and tea is much like marriage: finding what suits you is the most important. We don’t advocate for expensive tea being a necessity. Just like tea is part of daily life alongside rice, oil, salt, and vinegar, the tea you drink is part of your everyday routine.
We have a friend who drinks only Duck Shit Aroma (Ya Shi Xiang), which is relatively considered an entry-level tea. We brewed a pot of Da An Mi Lan (a tea that costs over 2000 RMB) for him, but he couldn't tell what was special about it.
Why try to sell him on high-end tea? He likes Duck Shit Aroma and it makes him happy—that’s all that matters. The joy of drinking tea is not universal between individuals. As long as he feels happy, it’s enough.
For daily things, comfort is key. Each tea drinker at different levels has the tea that suits them best, and this depends on their personal aroma preferences, spending capacity, and tasting level. The ultimate goal of drinking tea is to bring joy to oneself, and the way to do that is by choosing the Dancong tea that suits you. Finding the right tea is what’s truly important.
It's easy to go from simplicity to luxury, but once you get used to good tea, there’s no going back. Choose within your means, follow your heart, and be happy. We never advocate buying expensive teas; we just want to help tea drinkers find the right one.
In some cases, someone who drinks a 200 RMB Mi Lan Xiang and another person drinking a 20,000 RMB Ba Xian may not experience a huge difference in happiness, even though the objective quality gap is substantial. The subjective experience could feel equal, just like how love can make everything beautiful in the eyes of a lover.
Helping tea drinkers find "genuine, good, and right" Dancong teas is a beautiful vision and value that we believe will also benefit our own business. Do good deeds without worrying about the future.
Choose authenticity, quality, and the right match. We invite everyone to open this book, learn about Dancong, fall in love with it, and join us on this journey of tea discovery. Life is like brewing a pot of Dancong tea—you never know what the next brew will taste like.
