The lotus petal motif is outlined in underglaze red, its tone resembling the glow of early morning embers. Softly diffused on the porcelain surface, the red carries a muted, matte warmth, recalling the cinnabar-edged petals of lotus offerings placed before the Buddha. Within each petal, blue-and-white scrolling foliage unfolds gently, its deep cobalt tone echoing still water and hidden depth. The interaction between cool blue and warm red creates a restrained visual dialogue—contrasting yet balanced, vivid yet composed.

This effect is achieved through the dot-rubbing inner-impressing technique. Blue pigment is applied with staggered, point-based brushwork, allowing the scrolling patterns to build layers and tonal depth, much like ink spreading across paper. The underglaze red follows the moulded contours with controlled precision, settling into the porcelain body like cinnabar set within bone.
