This thin-body blue-and-white douli cup transforms classical poetry into a quiet, immersive tea experience, where literary imagery, porcelain craftsmanship, and contemplative use come together with understated elegance.

The inner decoration draws inspiration from Li Bai’s poem Listening to the Flute at Yellow Crane Tower with Director Shi, a work that weaves sound, landscape, and emotion into a timeless poetic scene. Through the imagery of the flute’s melody, falling plum blossoms, and Jiangcheng—an ancient name for Wuchang—the poem evokes a moment suspended across time. Within this cup, those poetic elements are translated into visual language: the soaring eaves and brackets of Yellow Crane Tower, the flowing lines of a jade flute, drifting plum petals, and a misty riverside horizon. Rather than literal illustration, the imagery is softly suggested, allowing the viewer to sense the poem rather than read it.

Rendered in blue-and-white and combined with thin-body porcelain, the design reveals itself through light and liquid. When tea is poured, the translucency of the body allows the imagery to appear and recede, creating the illusion of movement, as though flute melodies linger in the air and plum blossoms follow the current of the river. This interplay transforms poetic atmosphere into a spatial, almost cinematic experience contained within the cup.

At its core, the piece reflects the spirit of Li Bai’s poetry—an expansive openness, a celebration of nature’s permanence, and a freedom of mind that transcends circumstance. Qing Ben Yuan brings this literary theme into daily tea practice, inviting the user to step momentarily away from noise and haste. Through touch and use, the cup becomes a quiet medium for reconnecting with classical poetic sensibility and the tradition of using objects as vessels for reflection and meaning.

The form follows the classic douli cup silhouette, inspired by historical tea wares yet refined for modern comfort. Its open rim allows aroma to unfold naturally, while the thin body enhances sensitivity to temperature and touch, making each sip deliberate and attentive.
