On the exterior, the "Blue-on-Blue" glazing technique replaces traditional clear glaze, creating a harmonious interplay between the underglaze blue and the vibrant blue overglaze. The cup’s outer surface is graced with two cranes, painted in the Yongzheng-era delicate style. These cranes reference the scene from "Later Ode to the Red Cliff", where two birds are seen flying past the boat, uniting the inner and outer designs to create a vivid, fluid narrative.
