Where two mountains meet

草兰香  Cǎo Lán Xiāng

Jia generation · planted 2000 · terroir age c. 26 years

If you know what it feels like to live under a sky that never quite dries,  moss climbing the bark, mist sitting in the air long after morning,  then you already know the place this tea comes from. Orchid Meadow grows where two mountains meet, at the junction where spring water runs down and humidity never leaves. For those of us in London, this tea grew up in familiar weather.

TASTING NOTES

Aroma Lightly roasted asparagus. floral, lightly herbal. toffee, cotton candy, buttered biscuit.

Taste  Gentle bitterness giving way to a bouquet-like floral lift. Water lily, soft orchid, rounded by subtle butteriness and wild honey.

Body  Light to medium, velvety, lightly astringent at the sides.

Finish  Expansive, floral, cooling. Aftertaste quick, clean, increasingly sweet.

ON THE SLOPE

Junction of two mountain bodies. Mist lingers year-round, forest surrounds, spring water flows from the summit through the roots. Perpetually humid. Fine moss covers the trees. This produces a tea of exceptional cleanliness: delicate florals, a herbal quality close to the background, and a faint breath of moss underneath the sweetness. The mountain's dampest corner, making the gentlest tea.

SPRING 26 - SEASON 1 RELEASE

Harvested spring 2025. Charcoal-roasted. Carefully stored and intentionally rested for one year letting the charcoal mellow, flavours meld together, resulting in a deeper, more rounded taste.

True age is measured in the soil, not the seed.
