Bring new life to your cherished tableware with an authentic handmade Japanese kintsugi kit.

Kintsugi is the traditional Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics with lacquer and metallic powder. Rather than hiding cracks, chips, or breaks, kintsugi highlights them, allowing each repaired piece to carry a new story of care, time, and renewal.

This kit is designed for those who would like to repair and reconnect with their tableware at home. As the repaired piece may come into contact with the body, real urushi lacquer is used for the final finish.

Available in two options: Shingetsu and Mangetsu.

Option 1: Kintsugi Kit 【Shingetsu】
Simple Kintsugi with Urushi

Shingetsu is a simple kintsugi kit designed for easier home repair. It includes instant glue gel and epoxy putty for the base repair, with real urushi lacquer used for the final finish.

This kit is suitable for beginners who would like to experience kintsugi in a more accessible way, while still using traditional urushi for the finishing process.

Let your care bring new life to your tableware.

◯ Kit Contents 【Shingetsu】

Hand guide booklet and video, Alteco Instant Glue Gel, epoxy putty, red urushi, black urushi, tin powder, brass powder, spatula, spoon, acrylic plate, brush, wet and dry sandpaper 400 grit, wet and dry sandpaper 1000 grit, masking tape, cotton swabs, finger cot, plastic gloves, and 2 pieces of cotton for brass powder and tin powder.

Please use the raw urushi within one year as a general guide.

◯ Metal Powder Types 【Shingetsu】

Brass Powder
An alloy of copper and zinc with a strong lustre and a colour similar to gold.

Tin Powder
A metal powder similar to silver, but with a slightly darker tone.

◯ Things to Prepare Yourself 【Shingetsu】

Cutting tool, ethanol such as disinfecting alcohol, oil such as salad oil, canola oil, or olive oil, water, tissues, clear tape, and nail polish remover.

Please avoid nail polish removers where water is the main ingredient.

Please put the oil into the provided bottle and use it as needed.

◯ Video Guide 【Shingetsu】

A video guide is included to explain each step clearly.

The video guide covers breaks, chips, cracks, brush cleaning, how to keep extra urushi, cleaning the acrylic plate and plastic spatula, and preparing a makeshift urushi curing cabinet.

Option 2: Kintsugi Kit 【Mangetsu】
Kintsugi with Urushi - Traditional Method

Mangetsu is a more authentic kintsugi kit for those who would like to take their time and experience a deeper traditional repair process using urushi lacquer.

Listen to the vessel, pour care into it, and pass it on.

Like waiting for the moon to become full, this kit invites you to slow down and enjoy the process. The repaired vessel will be carefully finished with lacquer, giving it a renewed appearance and a story of its own.

◯ Kit Contents 【Mangetsu】

Handy guide booklet and video, raw urushi, acrylic plate, plastic spatula, bamboo spatula, brush, eye dropper, sandpaper 320 grit, wet and dry sandpaper 1000 grit, thin flat diamond file, masking tape, plastic gloves, wood powder, tonoko whetstone powder, black bangara powder, red bangara powder, gold powder 0.1g, silver powder 0.3g, and cotton for gold and silver powder.

◯ Metal Powder Types 【Mangetsu】

Gold Powder
A very fine powder made from crushed gold leaf, suitable for spreading over a wide area.

Silver Powder
A powder made from crushed silver leaf, with slightly coarser grains than gold. Silver has a very pale and beautiful finish, but it will gradually darken as it ages.

Please always wear plastic gloves when working with urushi.

Plastic gloves are disposable. We recommend preparing additional gloves in a size that fits you comfortably.

Please use this kit in a well-ventilated space and keep it away from children and pets.

Please note that kintsugi is a natural hand-repair process. The final result may vary depending on the item, the breakage, and the repair method.
