Gohobi Handmade Black Walnut Tatami Seat Cushion

This Japanese style tatami seat cushion combines a solid wood base with a comfortable floor cushion, creating a calm and natural seating experience. Designed for meditation, tea rooms, tatami spaces, bay window seating or floor gatherings, it reflects the simplicity and balance found in traditional Japanese interiors.

Crafted from black walnut solid wood, the base highlights the rich natural grain and warm tones of the material. The low seating form allows for relaxed floor sitting, making it ideal for tea ceremonies, meditation practice or quiet reading spaces.

Each piece in the Gohobi furniture collection is handcrafted from carefully selected solid wood and natural materials, emphasising the beauty of simplicity and traditional craftsmanship.

Wood grain is the mark left by a tree during its growth. We aim to use these natural resources responsibly. The changing wood grain and occasional tree knots will be retained in our furniture to reflect the authenticity and beauty of nature. Because each piece is handmade, every seat will have its own unique character and subtle differences.

What is wood wax oil?

Wood wax oil is a natural environmentally friendly wood coating made from vegetable oils and vegetable wax. It penetrates the wood to provide protection while retaining the natural texture and character of the material. The finish feels warm and breathable to the touch and is suitable for furniture used in healthy living environments.

We use Osmo, a professional German wood wax oil brand made from natural base materials including soybean oil, linseed oil and palm wax. It is formaldehyde-free, contains no heavy metals or harmful volatile substances, and complies with EU EN71-3 and DIN53160 standards, ensuring your furniture is safe and worry-free.
